An Environmental Hero: TIME Asia featured a story on five heroes who are “rising to the challenge” of saving their environment. One of these eco-heroes is Tisna Nando, who received funding from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) to implement an environmental awareness campaign through a partnership project with Rare and Conservation International. TIME recognized Nando’s work with Flora and Fauna International in the Aceh province of Sumatra, made all the more difficult following the tragedy of the 2004 tsunami. Nando was also the recipient of a Women’s Creativity in Rural Life Award in 2005 from the Women’s World Summit Foundation.
