Cape Floristic Region Hotspot News
C.A.P.E. Partners Shocase Biodiversity at Work: Partners attending the recent Cape Action for People and the Environment (C.A.P.E.) annual conference had a host of opportunities to see how the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund’s (CEPF) strategy for investment is bringing about real benefits for conservation in the Cape Floristic Region biodiversity hotspot. During the conference, which was held in Cape Town, South Africa, guidelines were launched for municipal councils across South Africa’s Western Cape Province on how to incorporate findings from biodiversity plans into decisions on land-use planning and development. The second day of the conference featured representatives from the fruit, rooibos tea, flower, wine, and tourism industries that are making significant contributions to biodiversity conservation while running successful businesses.
