Our partnership with The Walt Disney Company is focused on supporting CI's biodiversity conservation efforts and raising consumer awareness about conservation issues.

  • Disney is sponsoring a "Rapid Expedition Program" team of CI scientists to conduct a biological survey of the Mountains of Southwest China and Himalaya Hotspots in the fall of 2005. The discoveries from this joint expedition will be used to educate visitors to Disney's Animal Kingdom newest attraction, Expedition Everest, about conservation efforts taking place in the region. more

  • Since 1995 The Walt Disney Company Foundation contributed more than $2 million to support CI's Conservation Science progrm and build conservation science capacity in the countries where CI works.

  • Conservation International is featured at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Rafiki's Planet Watch, a section of the theme park which focuses on wildlife efforts.

  • Walt Disney World and Disney's Animal Kingdom have also provided support to CI's communication efforts. Disney has provided creative and design expertise as well as underwriting the cost of specific communications efforts, such as brochures and newsletters.

  • The Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund (DWCF) has also contributed to several important conservation initiatives including projects on the population status, ecology and movements of elephants in the Okavango/Upper Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area; a Global Amphibian Assessment; and, a wild dog conservation project in Botswana. The DWCF is currently supporting projects in Cambodia, Colombia, Brazil and Southern Africa.

  • Russell A. Mittermeier, President of Conservation International, is a member of the Disney's Animal Kingdom Advisory Board.
